As such our new name is Bateau Bay Neighbourhood Centre.

Currently we have a locum worker, Ruth, working at the Centre and she has been very busy working with the Management to make the Centre bright and welcoming. You will notice some bright new paintings on the walls that have been sourced by Ruth through Hospital Art, a bookshelf kindly donated by a local lady to house the books for the new Book Library that Ruth is setting up.

So please call in and say hi and see what is happening at the Bateau Bay Neighbourhood Centre.

We require people who have an interest in the geographical area of Bateau Bay, Berkeley Vale, Chittaway Bay & Point, Glenning Valley, Killarney Vale and Tumbi Umbi.

Starting on September 10, 2012 will be Joanne who comes as a worker who had been working for the organisation on a time limited project and when that finished she joined the Management Committee as she wanted to stay in touch with the work that Berkeley Vale Neighbourhood Centre Inc oversees in the projects of Berkeley Vale Neighbourhood Centre, Cynthia Street Neighbourhood Centre and the 2 Out of School Hours Services of Tuggerah Before and After School Care as well as Berkeley Vale Vacation Care.

Joanne has also been a relief worker at both BVNC & CSNC so comes with an understanding of what is involved in providing a Community Hub.

Until Joanne starts I, Gillian Holton, Manager, and 2 staff members, Cathy and Sharon, have been keeping the Centre open, all be it for limited periods.

But our activities of Computer Hub, Tax Help, EAPA, information, Coffee and Craft Chat group are all still being looked after and running.

We look forward to a bright future for Cynthia St Neighbourhood Centre and hope that the communities of Bateau Bay, Killarney Vale and Tumbi Umbi get behind the Centre and help us towards that future.

I have worked for non-government community based management committees before and understand the importance of small organisations. Previously, I had spent some 12 years working in local government, just finishing as the Coordinator Community Development at Hornsby Shie Council, when my position was recently made redundant.

I have over 23 years experience in working for the community in a variety of different capacities, particularly with young people.

I am excited to be working at Cynthia Street and am looking forward to the challenges that lay ahead.

I am planning an Open Day for late June 2012 where I wish to invite you, the local community, community representatives and others to Cynthia Street to celebrate my commencement and the new beginnings of the programs and projects of the neighbourhood and community of Bateau Bay!

Come along on Wednesday 21st March from 10am and enjoy a gathering of women filled with fun and interaction. Lots of hands-on pampering with products that are certified organic when prepared.  Enjoy Aromotherapy, organic facials, massage, foot frolic – peppermint foot soak and scrub with herbs, Reiki , Hands on Healing.

The day will be from 10 am for 4 hours of the above which includes a light luncheon. All for free!!!!!
